User statistics without use of the library

Hello, is it true the user statistics are only recorded when you use the Library?
I always used 'My Computer' to add tracks to my playlist..
But today I checked the library statistics and they were way to low compared to my usage..

Is it possible to record statistics when I keep using 'My Computer' in the navigation tree?

Yes, the songs must be part of the library for the statistics to be added since it's in the library the statistic is stored. I.e. if the song isn't in the library there are no place to store the statistic.
I'll guess you have some rescanning to do now!

But isnt there a possibility to record statistics while still using My Computer to browse trough my files?
Because in the library the files are badly arranged... not the way I arranged them on my hard drive..
Is there a way to arrange the library like in my music collection? (E:Albums:Artists:Albums:Tracks)

If you play files that is part of the library from the My Computer node, statistic will be recorded. I.e. It's if they are part of the library or not that matters, not from what node you play them.

Browse through the Library->Location node instead. It has the same structure as the My Computer node but only contain songs part of the library and is much faster.

But first I'll guess you have to rescan your folders containing your music to add them to the library!

So you can see that, except from my structure, it also adds the individual albums.. how can I fix that?

Ok I found what the problem was.
In the past, I had my music organised per album.. so I had to clear the library first and then rescan it.
Now I have the good old view I had with My Computer.

But now something else.. this is my preferred view of the library:

I would like MediaMonkey to keep this view, and not start from the root view..
Is this possible? Because everytime I start MediaMonkey it looks like this:

Can't MediaMonkey remember what my preferred view is?

Alright, this is a great improvement for me! Big thanks

But the tree is not loaded as it was with shutdown.
The tree node options only allow me to choose one level of how the tree will be loaded.

So I can choose to show 'Location' on an expanded view. But then I still need to open the hard disk and then the folder which holds my music collection.
Is this the best I can get, or am I missing something?

Also: where does MediaMonkey save the Library statistics? I just installed a new version of MediaMonkey and I noticed that my previous statistics were deleted.

MediaMonkey saves the statistics and track information in the library (My Documents/My Music/MediaMonkey/MediaMonkey.mdb). So unless you delete this file installing MediaMonkey again should result in the loss of data.

As for organizing tracks:
- If tags are incorrect but the file/folder names are correct you can use Auto-Tag from Filename to tag your files.
- If you don't like the way MediaMonkey presents the Artist, Album nodes you can use the MagicNodes script to create any node you want. With TweakMonkey you can hide build in nodes.

Tweakmonkey only sets the base node, it does not have the ability to auto select an expanded subnode.

For quick access for specific nodes, you could use 'favorite nodes' script (have to search for it), it lets you set favorite nodes and quickly expand/navigate to them.

As Teknojnky says you can make shortcuts to your favourite nodes (no matter how much levels deep) using the FavouriteNodes script.

You can also slightly modify the StartupNode script so that it loads more than one startup node when the script starts.
The StartupNode script is made to go to a predefined node (or the last used node) when MediaMonkey starts, no matter how much levels deep.

I just installed the StartupNode script, but its not working properly here.
When I shut down MediaMonkey I get a bunch of errors:

Also: I don't really know how to modify that script.. I have no experience with this type of scripting

You mind doing it for me?

Yes I have TweakMonkey installed.. But I want to keep it too..

Is there a way to keep TweakMonkey installed but also keep my startup library view as I left it at the previous shutdown? (So tree node options for more levels)

There is probably a conflict between tweakmonkey and startup node both trying to set the current node.

Tweakmonkey doesn't provide a way to disable your selection once you've made one, but you should be able to delete the entry from the mediamonkey.ini (make sure MM is not running and you make a backup copy before modifying it)

- Locate the mediamonkey.ini (should be in "my documents\my music\mediamonkey")

- make sure MM is not running and make a copy of it

- open mediamonkey.ini with a text editor, locate the line "StartupNode=" and remove that line.

- save it

- start MM

if that stops your crashing then make sure you don't reselect a startup node via tweakmonkey.

if it still crashes then I don't know what could be causing it (I dont use startup node script)
