coat tailing on this thread, I have a gold license for I think 4.0.7
Is this still usable for a current release?
And does the android Pro version require a separate license? (as it seems to want).

???
I'm using W8 (on this box) and have made metro squares for the start page on my desktop PC w/o "touch"....for mobile I use android. Once past the start page, W8 is W7 without a start button. But there are many freebie start button replacements. Right now I'm checking out demo of Stardock's (stardock ...

files renamed O0$1$8I4430348.mp3
A file by song title seems to be renamed O0$1$8I4430348.mp3 by MM file resides on an NAS and is supposedly arriving at the (wired connection) PC running MM 4.0.7 via the NAS' Twonky server. "full name" http://192.168.1.96:9001/disk/DLNA-PNMP3-OP01-FLAGS01700000/O0$1$8I4430348.mp3 could this renaming ...

Ignorance on my part, so please excuse the genuinely curious question if you would:
Why would you want the music db in Access?

Re: library structure/management
So to make it work, all edits need to be within MM?
Doing it in file manager takes long enough, within mm even longer!
Is it possible to delete the library, structure a music directory the way I want and the "bring it in" and have it "take"? A yes or no would be appreciated

library structure/management
I like to keep my songs/files in folders by artist then album. iTunes usually scrambled things. So I managed to delete iTunes (even from my mac) and have spent manyl hours getting the 6000 or so files set up the way I want them, including taking all the stuff in "compilations" and redistributing it ...

Re: Trying to move files?
Somehow I think I'm doing it wrong even though it seems to work....but here's what I do: I use my file manager. Move stuff around and even rename folders and such. Then I do a rescan. Or I may synchronize the "other" directory with the one MM is supposed to use and then rescan. And sometimes exit MM ...

Re: multiple computers, licensing question
Wow! Do these plug ins typically cost a couple bucks or ? I've not investigated deeply enough to determine this. I have finally decided to use my mac mini as a content server (mostly e-books right now) but might move music over as the e-net interface is faster than on my NAS. Manage it thru VNC ...

Re: multiple computers, licensing question
OK. Great that the pro license works on 3 boxes.
But can a freebie version still access the same library? Like the netbook I seldom use. Or a grandkid visiting with whatever they have. and so on.
(<sshh, quietly asking> is there an osx version so I can totally kill itunes?<G>

what is UPnp/DLNA?
rather than use space here, can someone direct me to a previous posting where this is described? WTF does it mean and how/etc. I've not found the search terms that work. as yet.
I may have it scooped out.

multiple computers, licensing question
I have 3 computers (all W7). My wife's, my "work box", and my playbox. The library sits on a NAS mapped as a local drive on each of the computers. I bought MM Gold for my playbox. The $25 package. (can I upgrade to the $50 package for an additional $25? within what time frame?) Planning to install ...

Re: Is use of NAS bullet proof?
It is as rock solid as the connection and the NAS itself. I use a $15 Hitachi NAS gadget I bought at Fry's 5-6 years ago, into which I plug a couple HDDs from USB docks (not even a case!<G>). Sadly that cheapo thing is NLA. Search hard and you might find something like it. Or just get a Buffalo case ...

Re: Iomega cloud NAS
IIRC Iomega uses the Pogo lashup for internet access (they did a couple years ago) and Pogo keeps changing things so much such that even those with their device (Pogoplug) get messed up. Now their big thing is backup, and anything else takes a 2nd or 3rd seat to that. Plus...the pogo stuff requires ...

synch partial?
does synching to a device require the whole library be synched? Can only certain albums (or ?) be included? (obviously I've not yet tried it...still exploring) I have far too much (over 50-years worth of LPs, 45s, cassettes, etc) to fit on a portable device. So I need to be selective for a USB drive ...
