Hello everyone!
I recently converted from Winamp 5.55 in the last three of four days and am excited about MM. It has everything I need. Congradualtions on such a great product!
There is one feature I did not see on the wishlist or in the preferences I would like to know more about.
I want to disable the ability to double click on a track to edit the tag information. I want the only way to edit tags to be through the properties/tag information dialog box. I'm finding this to be a nuisance because when I click on the track sometimes It goes into "edit mode" for that information, at which time I have to hit "esc" to keep my tags.
Another minor issue is when editing tags through the dialogue box the auto-complete (which I don't want to turn off really because it works great) forces the completion rather than displaying it and allowing me to type over it. For example, I'll type the first frew letters, the autocomplete will pop up, and it will go the "end" on the string and my typing will appear at the end of the dialogue. It looks like this
(want to type METAL CHURCH) (types MET(fills in ALLICA, goes to "end")) (displays METALLICAAL CHURCH after I type the rest in) (have to go back and re-edit, but usually does this again for every character.)
Sorry if the second thing was confusing, I wonder if that is the normal behaviour. It seems to have something to do with the "shift" and "cap lock" buttons though.
Any help or response would be greatly appreciated.
AWESOME WORK

Here's what I'm running, don't know if it contributes to any problems:
CPU - 800Mhz Intel Celeron, Priority - Programs
RAM - 120Mb, 250-500Mb Page File, Priority - Programs
OS - Win XP SP2
Audio Card - ALi Accelerated WDM driver, best settings possible. K-Mixer priority is "Above Normal" Master is 90%, Wav is 90%
Media Monkey priority is "high" or "above normal"
Nothing running in background except essential windows DLL's that can't be stopped
Input - in_wmp3.dll (default input, all others except wav changed to .dll.inactive filenames to prevent loading)
output - Q0 Labs - FX Burst 24-Bit Output, 3.00 second buffer, .75 second start buffer, .75 seek buffer, all other options off
DSP (Through output dialog box, reliant on burst output) - Q0 Labs - Studio FX, all bypassed except Clarity and Bass enhancement, Headphone Mode is ON
DSP - DFX, all off except Fidelity is set at 3/10, Bass is set at 1.5/10, type I, Headphone mode is OFF
DSP - Enhancer 0.17, Volume 4.5, HBass 4, HBRange Max, DBass 4, DBRange Max, Dry Signal MAX, HTreble 3, HTRange 6, all ambience is OFF, Boost is ON
Running in non-skinned mode. Windows is set to run for speed/performance.
MP3's are 48Khz, Lame, q0, stereo, 160kbps or 320kbps, 16 bit

You can change the behavior of the double-click action by going to Tools -- Options -- Player -- Default Double-Click Action. I'm not sure how to help you with the autocompletion problem because I have mine set up to use the old method of auto-completion.

Okay. I'll try that out. I'll look to see if there's an option for the old autocomplete thing, or look for a script.
Thanks for the tip. I didn't consider looking in there for that option.

Re: Any way to stop editing in Library?
You can't change the edit in place behavior, just make sure you do a fast double click instead. I'm not sure, but the Party Mode might be able to block this.
For the Auto-Complete try MediaMonkey 3.1 if you haven't, I thought it doesn't do this anymore.

Yeah, I only saw the option to change the behaviour of the title string, so for now I guess I'll have to be sure to click on only the title.
The bigger concern is how much resources, if any, this feature is using, as you can see I am lucky to be able to manage to play anything with that kind of ridiculous setup and non-existent hardware speed I have.
I'm starting to think that the cursor hovering inside of the string's dialogue box is doing this, even though i'm not doing anything with the cursor.

Re: Any way to stop editing in Library?
I doubt that it has a big effect as long as you Esc out of the field no tagging should take place.

Re: Any way to stop editing in Library?
Since Upgrading to 3.1x, I've found the library edit to be very troublesome.
It made me go back to 3.0x.
3.1.1 made me take another look, but nope, still these glitches.
1) If I highlight a field & F2 to edit, by default, the whole field is highlighted.
Hitting the RIGHT-ARROW key used to do what all other Windows apps do - move to the right end of the field.
But in MM3.1x, it moves to the left end of the field; then one character to the right.
Can this behaviour be changed back to the way it was?
2) Updating any field while viewing the library; if that field is displayed up top with the Track Browser, the Browser will not update (as it used to!) until I click on any field up there. Is this a known bug?
3) Updating a field by overwriting it, (sometimes but not always - it appears random) I need to hit ENTER twice - 1st to 'record' the typing, 2nd to save the field.
