Reading files forever

Post by JhotIII »

This happened sometime around the release of MM 3. When opening "all" inside a folder it takes literally forever. Up to 10 minutes might be expected depending of number of subfolders. Two folders still could take up to several minutes. This is a big problem as I can now no longer work on more than one folder at the time. I have most of my library through network UNC paths (for use on more computers) but this happens regardless on a local drive or UNC paths. I have two rather sluggish big raid sets, but this is ridiculus. The reason for using a database for the library would make it unnecessary to read the whole file structure ?

I know it's kinda late...but I ran into the same issue. I was using the JMicron SATA drivers in my BIOS and that was causing the issue. Turned it off in the BIOS, power cycled the computer, and viola... the songs all loaded, really quickly, in MM4. Maybe this is the same issue for you?
