Re: Discogs Tagger 4.44 (Updated: 2014-04-30)
Hi All,
I'm trying to find my way in tagging boxsets.
I'm not considering the Boxset's name as being the album name but as a grouping tag for all album being part of the boxset. My best example is "Shine On" boxset from Pink Floyd.
I was wondering how you guys do handle such boxsets and if it was possible to automate something from the Discogs tagger.
So far, I'm using the "Grouping" tag of MM as Boxset name and putting the original album name as Album title but this does not match the tagger way of working
For Releases with multiple CDs, I generally use the Index track of Discogs as Disc number in place of of simple figure which is meaningless. Would this be possible in the tagger?
Thanks and have a nice day,
Patrice

Hi Patrice,
i didn't use the Boxset's Name yet. But it should be possible to fill the grouping tag with the content of the index track(s).

I don't understand what you do with the content of the index track. You don't fill the Disc Number with numbers ? Can you explain this with the Pink Floyd release ? Thank you !Imkal wrote: For Releases with multiple CDs, I generally use the Index track of Discogs as Disc number in place of of simple figure which is meaningless. Re: Discogs Tagger 4.44 (Updated: 2014-04-30)
Hi Sven,
For the Pink Floyd Shine On release, I fill the Grouping with the name of the box set ->Shine One then the album title is filled in with the index track which is in fact the original album name e.g The Dark side of the Moon. In this release the album the Wall is splitted on 2 CDs so I have the disc number set to the part number.
So it gives :
Grouping Tag = "Shine On" for all tracks
Album Title = "Original name of the album of the related track e.g. Tha Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Wishing you were Here, ...
Disc # = 1 or 2 for the CD related to The Wall Album part 1 and part 2
I will take the Cabaret Voltaire boxset release (Archive #828285 Live) to illustrate the other way I'm documenting boxset when the boxset is not made out of previously released albums.
So for this release, the grouping tag is empty, the album name is "Archive #828285 Live" and the Disc # is the index track so Live At Liverpool Warehouse 12.06.82 or Live At Sheffield Lyceum 27.08.82 or Live At Toronto Concert Hall 05.05.85.
I use the same principle for multiple CD release where each CD is named differently (e.g. Nick Cave & the Bad seed : The Lyre of Orpheus & the Abattoir Blues boxset, or Buddha Bar compilations, The Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness , ...)
Indeed,in such cases I don't just put a number in the disc # tag
. But if you have another way to manage it, just tell me
Thanks and have a nice day,
Patrice

Hi Patrice,
adding the text from the index tracks is a good idea. But i have problems to implement the different usings of the index tracks into the script.
My suggestion is : filling the grouping tag always with the index track text. Cause the index tracks groups some tracks together for whatever reasons, not only album title.

Re: Discogs Tagger 4.44 (Updated: 2014-04-30)
Hi Sven,
I think I can live with that. I will have to change my auto-organisation rule but the logic is manageable
Could it be possible to unflag index track I don't want to be set as grouping values?
Let's take an example
Artist X
Release Y
Disk # 1
index track 1-1 - Original Album
Track 1-1 .....
Track 1-2 .....
...
Track 1-n .....
index track 1-2 - Bonus track
Track 1-n+1 ......
Disk # 2
index track 2-1 B-Sides & Rarities
Track 2-1 ....
.....
I would like to be able to uncheck the index track 1-2 Bonus track but also that for track 1-n+1 the index track 1-1 is used.
As general rule I would say that
if I have a checked index track, it applies for all following tracks until a new checked index track is found or that the disc # is changing

I'm having an issue tagging certain releases in the newest MM beta.
Basically it assumes that some tracks are "sub-tracks" and won't let me check them for tagging as a regular track, anyway an example would be http://www.discogs.com/release/1774159
I can provide more if necessary.
Thanks for working on this script without me

Re: Discogs Tagger 4.45 (Updated: 2014-05-19)
Just released a new version.
it should be possible. I started programming, but it is not finished yet.
In the new version i added an option to turn subtrack detection off. This is the best way with "unnormal" track listing like this release.
Without you i would still programming the json parser
If you like to help, you welcome !!

Hi Sven,
Hope you are well.

Discogs Tagger only recognises this song if the feat. artist is behind the title setting is enabled.
Is it possible to change this so that the feat. artists are moved to the Artist field?
Thanks.
Hope you are well.

Re: Discogs Tagger 4.45 (Updated: 2014-05-19)
Hi Steve,
i'm fine, thank you. How are you ?
The problem is the song matching from MediaMonkey. Discogs Tagger send the information from Discogs to MM. MM compares the song names and put them together.
Sometimes the Song Matching fails, If the names don't match or there are songs with equal names on the album. The script can't control the matching of MM.
Try to rename the song to the name on discogs "A Bunch of niggas", this should work.
Greetings
Sven
