Hello all,
can you maybe help out? That would be great, thank you.
I had all my music here:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Folder-1\Music
and I moved the Music-folder to:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Music
Now all my playlists are empty, what is quite bad, as it cost literally more than 100 hours to create them.
Can anyone help? Please...
Thank you very much.
Kind regards

Did Playlists become empty in MediaMonkey or are Playlists you're importing importing without files?

Re: Playlists empty after moving files in the same folder
Hi Luckysky,
You may want to take a look at:
http://solair.eunet.rs/~zvezdand/Export ... desNew.htm
as this will allow you to export the playlist / change for folder and then import the playlists back.
I regularly do something similar - export my MMW4 playlists on my desktop with the option to replace the explicit folder (D:\OneDrive\Music\) to a relative path (..\Music\). I then import the playlists into MMW5 on a couple of laptops where the music is on the C: drive in the C:\Music\ folder with the same Artist\Album sub-folders as on the desktop.
In any case, having a backup of your playlists as M3U files is not a bad idea!
Hope this helps.

@Lowlander:
thank you for your reply. The playlists became empty. So in the left bar under "Media Tree" > "Playlists" when I click any created playlist, it is completely empty. Unfortunately I didnt make an export of playlists or something. Do you think there is a way to restore the playlists?
Thank you for the info

@IanRTaylorUK:
thank you also for your reply. As far as I understood the page, this is kind of add-on that helps to export and import playlists. This might be useful as I am planning to transfer all music to another device. May I ask you, do you think that this add-on (on the solair.eunet.rs(...)-page can also help to restore my lost playlists?
Thank you for the info.
P.S. I am having this version of MediaMonkey: 4.1.30.1914 (Standard Edition)

Unfortunately no, unless you have a backup of the database file or exported the Playlists there is no way to restore.

Re: Playlists empty after moving files in the same folder
If you can find the M3U files - from your PC / laptop, or from a device, or from a SD card used on a phone / tablet - then I suppose you can recover. In my case, I synchronise primarily using my MMW4 playlists and there is hence a copy on my devices. I have not recovered this way (yet!), but I guess it should be possible.Luckysky wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 3:58 pm

I would suggest moving from MMW4 1914 to 1919. Furthermore, I would run the DeBug version:
https://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/MediaMon ... _Debug.exe
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysint ... /debugview
If you have any problems, you just run "C:\Program Files (x86)\DebugView\dbgview64.exe" before MMW4. This can yield useful information.
Also, if you can find a copy of the "old" MM.DB file from when you had the Playlists working, then you might be able to recover. I currently run with 1061 Playlists (typically for each discrete "Album") so I do keep a backup of the MM.DB and export the M3Us as described previously. Belt, braces and a bit of string!
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: Playlists empty after moving files in the same folder
Ok, thank you, @IanRTaylorUK and @Lowlander, for your input.
You gave me an idea: on my mobile are still the playlists available with the music (so these playlists on the mobile are not empty). I have just send the playlist-files from my mobile via E-Mail to myself (all are .m3u-files). Could this help, I mean can import those playlists from mobile to MM4 (on my computer)?
Otherwise I guess the only other option is to open the m3u-files with a program like Notepad++ that shows the playlists and then re-create them in MM4...
Thank you for all your efforts in this matter.
Kind regards

Re: Playlists empty after moving files in the same folder
Playlists contain Paths to files. So the Playlists from your phone likely have different Paths on them then where the files reside on your PC. Paths can be edited in any text editor though.
Sync from Android could also be used to Sync the Playlists back to MMW.

Re: Playlists empty after moving files in the same folder
Actually, the "Export / Import Playlists for Child Nodes" seems to have a import from folder option that looks like it will do the "path" editing for you on import.
I am not certain, but I think this is available in the paid version i.e. after you make a "donation" to the author. It is good to support this as it provides a little encouragement for his work to be ported / re-written for MMW5 some time in the future.
