Cannot delete Collection
In MM4 I made a collection ('Test Collection') many years ago. It naturally appeared in MM5 too when I installed that. I was unable to delete it from there. So I closed MM5, opened MM4, and was able to delete it there (perhaps because it's a Gold only feature?). But it remains present in MM5. And also after updating MM5 to the latest release version.
Shouldn't MM5 use the same Collections as MM4?

Re: Cannot delete Collection
No, MediaMonkey 4 and 5 work independent from each other and don't share the database. You'll need to remove it from MediaMonkey 5 (Tools > Options > Collections & Views).

It reads as if terrypin does not have the Gold edition of MM5 at this point.
I can't test this because I have Gold, but it reads as if he may not be able to do what you are suggesting.

Re: Cannot delete Collection
Thanks Barry, correct, I don't have MM5 Gold.. So that's why I was unfortunately unable to simply delete it.
However I was able to disable it as shown here.

BTW, what is the meaning of '-' in a checkbox? (In the equivalent MM4 dialog it's a bold f '.')

The tooltip explains the meaning if you hover the mouse over the "-"
"Visible if content exists" ... which means that the Node will be visible in the MediaTree, but only when there exist tracks which match the Collection criteria ... and if there are none, the node is invisible.

Thanks Barry, missed that. I checked it in MM4 and assumed same in 5!

Re: Cannot delete Collection
Presumably MM5's database has a different name? Nightly and weekly backups apart, I can find only these two versions of MM.DB:
C:\Docs\MM Backup\MM.DB
C:\Users\terry\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\MM.DB
I'd been using MM4 and closed it before doing that search. Both those have same timestamps (time of closing MM4) and almost identical file sizes, so they must both be MM4's.
BTW, MM4 always does a backup when it closes, using an add-on, and displays a message. Shouldn't MM5 have inherited that?
P.S I've been ripping CDs yesterday and today, all to my external un-monitored drive I:, using both MM4 and MM5. I assume those won't be reflected in the database sizes until I use scan/insert?

Re: Cannot delete Collection
The Addon only works in MediaMonkey 4, for MediaMonkey 5 there is a build in backup option.
The MediaMonkey 5 database name is mm5.db.
Yes, until you scan the newly ripped files won't show in the MediaMonkey Library of the version you didn't rip with.

Re: Cannot delete Collection
Very annoying bug in MM5 is that one random external drive appears in my collections and I cannot remove it. Why this one appears and not my other 5 external drives I don't know. It does not contain any media files. In MM4 there was an option for portable devices that seems to have been removed. Please restore it!
Re: Cannot delete Collection
Hi,
Can you attach screenshot to reply in forum where it is shown external drive.
Like in MM4 (options) you can disable device in Tree node "Devices and services" under ⋮

Re: Cannot delete Collection
I'm sorry but I have no idea how you upload an image.
When I look at Options->Library->Collections & Views there is an option for Devices & Services and it is UNchecked.
Yet in my list of collections, right at the bottom, is a node for "Z:\" which is one of my external drives.
If I check Devices & Services, that node appears in my list of collections. The node for "Z:\" is NOT in that node.

Those are 2 separate things in MediaMonkey.
When a drive appears in your Collections, it means you scanned the contents of that drive at some point. You can remove it from the Location sub-node (ie. right click on drive in Music > Location > drive and select Remove).
