Sync Playlist To Android Phone (Pixel 7)

Post by Pedro675 »

Got a new Pixel 7 phone. I want to copy/transfer/sync a playlist from my MM Music library on Win10 to the MM app (1.4.4.0956) on the Pixel.

I only want to copy the songs in the playlist, not the entire music library. Can this be done?

Thanks

Yes, you can select what will be Synced.

Thanks for the reply and links. I have spent the last couple of days trying to use the link instructions to connect my Pixel 7 to MM.

Win10 connects the phone when USB cable is attached. Phone shown in "Devices and Printers" as "Unspecified" "Pixel 7".

MM does not show phone in "Devices and Services" I get no "Device Profile"

Also, the Playlist I want to download to this phone only shows in the Left Panel. The Playlist for my other phone with MM tracks does show in the left Panel.

I am stuck. I miss iTunes for it's simplicity and ease of use.

Please help

Check if you can set the connection type on the device when connected via USB, MTP will be needed to have MediaMonkey be able to Sync.

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using and have you tried a PC and phone restart?

When I connect USB I can open "USB Preferences". I am asked "Use USB For" and my choses are
File Transfer/Android Auto
USB Tethering
MIDI
PTP
No Data Transfer

I've clicked every one.

MM build: 5.0.4.2690 (Most Recent)

My other phone (Pixel 6) had the MM songs transferred from the old phone. I can connect that phone to MM (USB) with those song tracks shown. And I can also elect to sync via wifi

OK, I guess I need to fess up to stupidity.

I found I need to open MM on both the PC and the Pixel 7 to sync.

I was able to connect and sync. I was able to select the Playlist to sync to and sync. For some reason I found two playlists of the same name??? At first sync no tracks transferred to phone. Then I selected both playlists with same name and now it is downloading via wifi to phone.

I'll get back after this is done.

Download started to download songs (748) to phone. Got message that "download failed" "with errors".

I can't open MM now on my phone. All I get is MM "Options". I've closed MM on the PC. I can see "Internal Shared Storage" of file folders which include Music which shows all the downloaded songs, but when I click on the song folder it shows "No Files in this Folder". How do I get them to show and play on MM?? It shows all folders no song files.

I'm trapped.

Wifi Sync requires both MMA and MMW to be running and can only be started from MMA. No USB connection required.

USB Sync only requires MMW (MMA doesn't need to be open or even installed to be able to Sync, but is recommended to be installed if you want more metadata and Sync back changes/play stats).

Did all files fail to Sync, or just some? If it's just some, do these failed files play in MMW? Do the empty folders in MMA show files in a file browser App on the phone, or are they empty there too?

It now appears ALL files I wanted were downloaded after I confirmed the genre tracks in MM on the PC match the tracks in the phone. However on subsequent "syncs" tries MM wants to download the entire library. Long day, so I'll address that later.

Wifi sync is definitely better than USB.

I really thank you for sticking this out.

Sorry to bring this back up but.....?

Where is the "Summary" page and where is the "Sync List"? See link above for pictures.

All I get is "Home" page.

Does the phone have to be connected first?

Thanks

No, the device does not have to be connected. This should be shown when you select the device under Devices & Services in the Media Tree.

What device are you trying to configure and which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using?

I think the phone would have to have been connected at least once, so that MM5 would know that he had a Pixel 7

You didn't include a picture of what you see.

You need to navigate into your phone to see the pages that you are looking for.
Home> Devices&Services>Pixel 7
Once MM5 has registered you phone, you can come back here without connecting the phone first.

See my Pixel7 here.

If you are connecting via USB, you need to go, in Android, to USB Preferences and set "Use USB for" to "File Transfer/Android Auto"
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.

OK, I found the summary page and my Pixel 6 by clicking Devises & Services. Good on that.

MM Version: 5.0.4.2690 (most recent)

I am connected to MM via USB, and have gone into Android to USB Preferences and set, "Use USB for "controlled by this device" Pixel 6 and to, "File Transfer/Android Auto".

I want to Sync but don't know how MM knows to sync with, "Peter Music" folder with my songs and not the whole library. Also on my Pixel screen when I open MM I only get "Tracks", "Playlists" (no media) so blank, and "Now Playing". No "Artists".

I'd like to post a screenshot of my MM page but it appears I can only attach a url screenshot. Can you suggest a picture hosting service (free)?

Thanks for all the help, I know it's a lot of typing.

You select on the Sync List what should actually be Synced: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... 3E_Device) It can be a specific Artist or Playlist to whole Collections.

OK, got it. I needed to click around a bit to get to the screen you linked to. There are many options. I did select the playlist I wanted. I saved the link for future.

Thanks yet again.
