Mediamonkey 2024.2.0.3184 and i have tried locating the db on different drives both ssd and ide and the result is always the same, freeze and crash. if you look back you will see that this has been a problem for months, you have worked on it personally, rewriting the db manually at 1 point, look back at my past posts.

So that you know that AI troubleshooting is completely wrong it mixed MM4, MM5 and MM2024 and you are lucky that MM work at all.

NOTE that AI do not have knowledge of our internal debug structure and what means what, but it still confidently assumes various solutions.

We are handling each report seriously, please open support ticket, ZIP the LOG file you sent and you should get answer within 24h.

I have submitted many crash logs over that last months, i am very tired of this issue and AI was an attempt to fix something that your support staff and technical staff have been unable to fix. I am still open to suggestions hence my following of this forum, it would be nice if it got fixed once and for all, i paid for it after all, multiple times

Recently whenever I try to sync my cell phone or tablet with the Database\Library on my PC an error message pops up on my PC saying "The database seems to be corrupted. Attempt to fix it?"

If I click on yes it appears to fix the database, however when I try to initiate a sync I am confronted with the same message.

If I click on no
Application Error

Application throw an exception Could not retrieve data
"SELECT Songs.*

WHERE ( Songs.TrackType in (0,4,3) ) AND Songs.Rating>=76 AND Songs.Rating<=85" : database disk image is malformed (11, 11)
Would you like to restart MediaMonkey in Safe mode?

And i am given the usual choices "Restart", "Restart In Safe mode", or "Continue"
I have also tried Database Management and checked all maintenance options to no avail.

Any suggestions, I am a little apprehensive about "Clear Database" and "Reset Settings" options as my Library is pretty extensive, and yes I do have backups.

I have done clean installs on both android devices as well as a clean install of MMW, nothing seems to fix the issue, I have had very brief intervals where sync works properly but very short and infrequent. A crasz loq was sent C33D0000 and i included an explanation linking to this post. I have the same issue now syncing via USB and WiFi, sometimes I can plug the android device into the PC and it will update or sync on its own in the background, but if I initiate the sync through the android device the PC MMW freezes with the corrupt database error. The android devices are a Samsung S23Ultra and a Blackview Tab 16pro, I included the PC breakdown in #9038. I have captured a new DebView log and will submit it when asked.

I have tried this, you rebuilt the database by hand a while back and it didn't work. I am more than willing to help figure out this bug as I have 3 Gold Licenses and have been using the program for years without anything like this happening. I have a large database which has been meticulously organized to my liking and I do not wish to lose all this work.
Here is the latest debug report, I have quoted the name "Sync / Database Error" or #9038 in the crash reports I was able to edit when the freeze/crash allowed.

Generally malformed is an indication that the drive the database is on may start to fail. Particularly if it keeps occurring. However as you have a ticket open, please use it to resolve.

I did what was suggested in the article, delete the MM.db file and force a rebuild of the database and all was well for a minute. It appears to be suffering from the same problem, I was a quarter of the way through a wireless sync when an error popped up on the PC stating that the database appears to be corrupt and if I would like to attempt to fix it, at which point the program crashes if yes is selected. The part that makes this annoying is that the sync operation is halted and cannot continue after the Windows version crashes.
Any other suggestions, I am really looking to maintain all the work I have put in to this library as far as star ratings and such.

AutoPlaylists are database only, thus when you remove the database they're lost as AutoPlaylists. You may have exported them at some point which is why scanning picked them up, but as static Playlists.

If a failing hard drive is the cause it wouldn't have been an issue before. Do you have a different hard drive in your system, that at least for now, you could setup the database file?

If you have a backup of the database you could use that, as long as there is backup from before the database become malformed. It would also have your AutoPlaylists as AutoPlaylists.

Re: Sync/database error

I have recently built a new computer (8 mos) and the database lives on the C:/ drive which is a fairly new ( maybe 1 year old ) Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD, so I don't think that is it besides it syncs with other devices with no database error. I will include a PC summary if you wish, but this whole MM5 arrangement has been living on this system quite nicely since its build. I thought it might be the newest version of MM5 as I did an upgrade a while back but now I am wondering if this is not a network issue as I have updated my network recently to a mesh system Deco XE75 6E system ( It has been working on the network for a couple of weeks now). I have attempted restoring a back up which did not work, I am now doing a USB Sync to see if this might correct the database error and allow my wifi sync to work again. Other times I have had syncing problems in the past it always seems to be on the android end ( my phone or tablet ) not on the PC. WiFi Syncing is all that seems to be affected and only between my PC and a Blackview Tab 16 Pro ( which previously worked and synced normally over WiFi ) all other iterations of MediaMonkey on all the other devices I have are functioning properly, Samsung S23Ultra syncs fine.

You can capture the Sync causing the malformed error to happen in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log and database file to a Support Ticket: viewtopic.php?t=86643

PEKE

Many log and bug reports have been submitted as I have also used the debug version for quite some time but because it crashed even more than the no debug version and after hundreds of logs and crash reports were sent in from my installation of MM5 debug and nobody ever contacted me concerning those logs I decided to uninstall the debug version and continue on my own. The debug version would totally freeze my computer for minutes when it crashed and would even block me from accessing the task manager until it was finished crashing, so I uninstalled it as after hundreds of crashes and freezes as it seemed nobody was looking at the reports or at least not interested in helping me.

So on my own i have

moved the db to another drive
renamed the db
installed the db on the same drive as MM%
intalled the db on a different drive from MM5
portable installtion
uninstalled manually including registry entries and keys ... reinstalled
uninstalled 20 odd programs to see if interfering
updated to windows 11
Lowlander rebuilt the databse by hand
been on this forum for hours
changed the permissions for MM5
Ran as administrator
ran in compatability mode
Drive checks with harddrive analysis software
moved my entire music library
safemode
built the db in safemode and tried to import
built the db in MM4 and imported
Memory tests
selective startup
safemode with networking
safemode with minimal drivers

and believe me there is hours more, so maybe using AI was a las f******* resort, and if you haven't figured it out yet the Titl was click bait to see if anyone actually gave a shit.

am I missing anything Peke?
