Slow sync in release 2024.2.1.3208 [#21975]

Hello,

I updated to latest release 2024.2.1.3208 and observe that library sync is far slower in my library already within the app.
This adds many hours for my large library.

It is as though it is discovering the tracks for the first time in the amount of time it is taking, although not taking that long.

Yes. I wondered if it was a one time thing, but the extremely slow sync has persisted. Everything is fine.

So a second+ resync of the same files keeps re-syncing files already on the device? If so, please capture this in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86643

Hi Mark,

Long shot, but before you generate the debug log, maybe try File > Manage Database > Optimize database

If that fails, and you can still replicate the problem, can you do so using a relatively small sync operation?

Hi,
are you using syncing like selecting group of tracks > right-click > Sent to > Device (sync) ?

If yes, then it is instance of issue https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=21975
that will be fixed in the next build.

I waited to check and the issue still persists in the subsequent 3209 release.

I use menu item File > Add/Rescan Files To The Library as I always have.

My library is a cloud one using PCloud. It was has always scanned very quickly up to version 3208.

I have been doing it that way for many years.

I have checked none of the settings that slow scanning down are set.

I have also ensured that 'lookup missing information' is not set, as I do not need this.

Did anything change in the scanning or defaults when scanning in that 3208 release?

I will next try optimising the database as suggested, which I haven't done for a fair while.

Optimising the database seems to resolve the slow sync.

The next sync after that is slow but the one after that is fast again.

I confirm sync is performing very quickly again now on my PCloud drive in release 2024 2.1.311

For me, the speed of sync issue is now resolved.
