[REQ] Auto Infotainment Systems with "Google built-in"

Post by crath »

We recently purchased a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV. Starting with the 2025 model year, Chevrolet is using Android as the OS for the Infotainment system. Chevrolet advertises this as "Google built-in", but it's essentially Google TV tweaked for use in an automobile. The downside of this OS is that only apps specifically built for loading into the vehicle may be installed from the Play Store.

Here's my suggestion: offer a MediaMonkey "controller" app that users may install into the Infotainment system and then control the MediaMonkey app that's installed on their phone. At present, a user may open MM on their phone and playback media via the phone's Bluetooth connection to the vehicle. What's missing is the ability to browse from the Infotainment screen the MM library that's on the phone, choose media, and initiate playback; since picking up one's phone while driving is illegal in most jurisdictions.

I would be happy to pay an additional license fee for this "MM v5 Controller" app.
