MMA 2.1.2.1320 – UPnP/DLNA tracks skip rapidly when selected from Album view

Post by Ariel_1977 »

Hello,
I am experiencing a reproducible UPnP/DLNA casting problem with MediaMonkey for Android.
Setup:
MediaMonkey for Android Pro: 2.1.2.1320
MediaMonkey for Windows: 5/2024
Cocktail Audio N25 Amp as the UPnP/DLNA renderer
MediaMonkey Library UPnP server: 192.168.1.39, port 18729
Android phone and PC are on the same local network
Problem:
When I browse my MediaMonkey Library in MediaMonkey for Android and select a track from the Album view, then use Cast/Transmit to → Cocktail N25, the N25 starts rapidly skipping through the tracks. Each track is selected for less than a second and there is normally no audio.
The important point is that the same track from the same MediaMonkey Library works correctly when selected from the Year view. When selected from Year and cast to the N25, the track plays normally and the next tracks also play normally. Shuffle also works correctly.
The problem also occurs when selecting the second or third track of an album; it is not limited to the first track.
Other tests:
MediaMonkey for Windows → Cocktail N25 works correctly, including browsing/playing by album.
MusicXNeo → MediaMonkey Windows → Cocktail N25 works correctly by Year, Album, Artist, etc.
The MediaMonkey UPnP server is accessible. http://192.168.1.39:18729/DeviceDescription.xml opens correctly and shows the MediaMonkey Library MediaServer and ContentDirectory services.
I tested the other MediaMonkey Server instances/ports (14620 and 21215), but changing them did not resolve the problem.
I also tested Wi-Fi Sync. The tracks downloaded successfully to the Android device, but the same casting problem can still occur.
Therefore, the problem appears to be specifically related to how MediaMonkey for Android handles/casts a track when it is selected from the Album view, rather than a general network, MediaMonkey Windows server, or Cocktail N25 playback problem.
Android debug log ID: SZVMZE76NL
Could you please check the debug log and let me know whether this is a known UPnP/DLNA casting issue or whether there is something specific about the Album view/UPnP item handling that could cause this behavior?
Thank you.

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey for Windows are you using?

Is the issue only when casting or does it also occur when you play on the phone itself?

Hi Lowlander,
The MediaMonkey for Windows build is 2024.2.2.3222.
The issue occurs only when casting to the Cocktail N25. If I play the same tracks directly on the Android phone in MediaMonkey, they play normally, including consecutive tracks from the same album.
I have also discovered an additional pattern that may be relevant:
When I play a playlist by Year in random order and cast it to the N25, playback works normally as long as consecutive tracks belong to different albums. However, if two consecutive tracks happen to belong to the same album/disc, those tracks are skipped rapidly without playing. As soon as a track from another album is reached, playback works normally again.
The same behavior occurs when selecting tracks directly from the Album view.
The debug log ID is SZVMZE76NL.
Thank you.

Hi,

I'm not able to replicate this (tested by casting to MMW using Version 2.1.3.1333). However, 2.1.3.1333 fixes numerous UPnP issues, so can you confirm whether it solves the problem when casting to your Cocktail N25?

note: we've submitted build 1333 to the Play store as a beta today--it's recently taken about 1 week for new builds to be approved. To subscribe to beta builds, in MMA, tap Options > About | Register for test builds. Once registered, your next update will be to the current MMA beta. To update immediately, go to MediaMonkey in the Play store and tap 'Update'.
