Backing up library

Post by caffeine »

I'm writing a Python script to back up my MM5 library (using MM 5.0.4). This much is obvious:

* MM5.DB
* MediaMonkey.ini
* Plugins\
* Scripts\

But anything else? In particular I'm wondering about:

* ArtistImages\: I'm not entirely sure I recognize the images in this folder and don't even know some of the artists. What is this folder used for? In fact, can I just delete?

* MM.DB: This file was last used back in Jan 2023. Was this my database file when I used MM4, and if so, is it safe to delete this too?

ArtistImages is the images used for Artist, for example when you browse Artists with the Info Panel enabled.

mm.db is the MediaMonkey 4 or older database mm5.db is the MediaMonkey 5 database. So yes, it can be safely deleted (or kept as a backup point).

Hi caffeine,

are you aware that MM now includes a database backup and archive and scheduling facility in MM5 versions?
See Backup&Restore section at Files>ManageDatabase

It only backs up the database, but that seems OK to me.
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.
