Continuously "reading files" and crashing

I have used media monkey for years. Have to gold version. Have a large digital library, MM counts 549,512 files. This year however I am getting an increasing amount of out of memory crashes, any key push will cause MM to "read files." It is getting to the point that the software is unusable. Anyone know what is happening to my fave music library software?
