Sorry if these are repeat questions but I did search here and didn't find the answers. If these have been answered, perhaps you could point me in the right direction?
I've been using iTunes on Windows for years now as a media server for movies, TV shows, music and podcasts. I could sync with my iPhone and iPad and stream to my Apple TV streaming boxes at each of my TVs.
With the most current version of iTunes for Windows Apple has split it into multiple apps. iTunes for podcasts and audiobooks, Apple TV for movies and TV shows and finally Apple Music for music audio.
The problem is they also changed so they'll only stream content that was purchased from the Apple iTunes store.
I have nearly 6TB of content and the only part from Apple are the podcasts. I buy my movies & TV shows on DVD (or BluRay) and rip to my iTunes library.
With this change from Apple I can't use iTunes any longer. As a temporary fix I installed an older version of iTunes so I can still use my library until I find a permanent solution.
So, on to my questions:
- I looks like there's a "scan" option that can scan my iTunes library and import to MM. Does it just import the content info or does it create it's own whole separate library doubling the needed available disk space needed?
- When it imports content from iTunes, does it also keep all of the associated info on it? For example, with TV shows there's the season number, episode number and description of that episode. Does MM retain that info?
- When I buy new content, I'm assuming there's a facility to import CDs, DVDs or other digital content (assuming no DRM on them).
Thanks in advance for your help!
Larry.
