V1294 Now Playing fails to dock

Occasionally Now Playing gets into a state wherein it fails to dock i.e. drag.n.drop to a dock position leaves it floating. I don't know what eventually causes this state to go... but am getting tired of waiting.

I cannot find the "Dock to window" command anywhere:



Can someone PLEASE tell me a workaround? Thanks!

EDIT: Persists on 1304. Where one operation that causes this is (ironically) unticking Now Playing controls "Dock to Window". Why it should be ticked when NP is floating, goodness only knows.

Workaround: in MediaMonkey.ini, set NowPlayingDockable=1 .

it might be a good thing to search the ms download site for the sp3 download link. in the description of the file i remember now that it did have a link to see what was included in to the sp3 as in new or changed updates. and those updates listed on that page you got to from the link in the discription were also download able files. if that page is still up. you could search throught the thousands of updates included in the sp3 and get any that fix window location errors. or any other error you know you have. that way you don't need to get the full sp3 and it might allow your computer to get updated without causing the issues on your hardware that the full sp3 would cause.

but you should find the dock to window link by showing the player controls menu on the now playing list it should be in the options link on that menu.

some things might just work better one peice at a time.

I have found dozens of bugs in MM windows and never found this bug in any other program on this machine, so I'll pass on the suggestion that this bug is the fault of Microsoft rather than MM.

I can find no way of doing that.

I did try the right-click View 'Dock to window' and it simply moved the window to a different undocked position.. but now I find that window is partically dockable - thanks - but still I cannot get it back to docked above the player. If (from the position pictured) I drag it to the tracklist/player divider, it docks to the left or right of the player - never above.

Could this be the result of a recent update? Can anyone else get Now Playing window docked above the player?

You have to right click in the window itself, not the titlebar. Then you can find View > Dock to Window.

sounds now that you have said more. that it is a matter of you having moved the player out of the bottom dock area.
and have it sitting in the bottom of the listview area.
left click on your player. just up by the top border and to the left where there is nothing that is a button or scroll area.
drag the player down then very carefully drag your pointer to the right border of the directory tree. it might flash the player in and out of the lower dock area while your dragging it. if it does then don't release the mouse button until you can every so slowly place the pointer in a location that stops the flashing of the dock when the bottom dock is shown. then when it is there and not flashing let go of the mouse button the player should be in the lowest dock area then.

and you should be able to place the now playing window in the lower part of the left hand dock again. monkeys shell is a touchy thing when docking the player or windows. but that should get it there for you.

That's true - as the screeshot shows.

why its in front of you.
it shows you in the image where the doc areas are at.
if you want the now playing window above the player then the player has to be in
the lower doc.
the now playing window will slide in to the bottom of the two side docs it does not
as said doc in them it just sits in the bottom of them like you have the player sitting
in the bottom of the listview area.
the doc areas can have things sit in there with each other. look at the top doc i left the now playing
and the track browser in the locations there its only one doc but holds multiple things.
the side vertical docs do the same thing only they slide the second item in the bottom or the top of the doc
the top and bottom docs slide them on the sides of the doc area.
this is how we are able to make small / short players.
we use short player and allow uses to place other windows in the doc area, or we make the right and center of
the player transparent. and make the left side as wide as we want. the transparent part will be the one that slides when you put other windows in the doc beside the player. when you put too big of window in that doc
and it over laps the player you get flashing of scroll items or rating stars on the payer when you mouse over them. so its best not to slide the windows you doc with the player wider then the side of the player. or you should just cover the slide area image on the player that is mostly left there for that reason.

That was not apparent - thanks. I'll settle for player at full-width bottom, and NP at part-width above it.

well that statement is only for your case because you want the player below the now playing and you want to use a wide screen.

if you want the player in the left or right doc and the size of the player is narrow or small. and fits there.
then you have to move the now playing list in to the side dock
and move the player in there after the now playing list is.
of course the side dock can go wider and you will have to move the tree window to another dock if you want
the player on the left of the screen.

doing that will allow the same style you want with player on the bottom and now playing list on top. but it will
be in the side dock.

that is useful for those with vertical monitor screens and want vertical player set ups. like my startreking monkey skin.

so you can have it in your style in any dock area except the top dock area
