Movie Collection Software
Since MediaMonkey isn't focused on movies, I guess I can ask this question here, because since you also use MediaMonkey for your music collection (which says much about your taste), I was hoping that someone could help me find a great tool for my movie collection. I don't care if it's freeware or not, I just want the best!
Please tell me why you think it's so good compared to other products if you can. I love the interface of MediaMonkey, so if there's something similar out there for movies, please let me know.
Maybe the creators of MediaMonkey can think about developing software for this branche too :=)

You could use MM with Video-Plugin:

1) Convert your VHS's to DVDGoofyIdiot escribió:But the only thing is that I would also like to add my VHS collection. What advice can you give me more now?
2) Purchase the DVD's of your VHS's
3) Manually add the DVD entry for your VHS and make a note that it is a VHS
4) Ask the developers to add VHS options
5) Keep on looking for a better product
Sorry, probably not really helpful....

Ok Goofy,
A long, long time ago (before i even turn to MM for music cataloging) i was using Music Library from WenSoftware as my Music Catalog software. This software was awesome with a lot of unique features, the author was in touch with its customers and the software was getting better and better. But, one "dark" day the author just dissapeared, the forums were closed and since that day (about 2 years ago) not even one upgrade came out for MusicLibrary. A lot of people (including me) slowly (and with pain) abandoded MusicLibrary because the latest build not only was outdated but also had a lot of bugs.
Thank God, 6 months ago i discovered MM and move to it. MM is so good that up until now i had forgotten about MusicLibrary, but your post reminded it to me because WenSoftware was also publishing a movie cataloging sofware called MovieLibrary http://www.wensoftware.com/MovieLibrary/
I have check out the description and it looks very good, supporting even VHS. The best part is that it was last updated 2 months ago, so it seems that the developer has abandoded the music cataloging (where a lot of competitors exist) and turned to movie cataloging.
Hope this will help you

Ant Movie Catalog (aka amc): opensource, use scripts (you can make your own if there's not enough
) to retrieve infos from major web sites from all around the world (yes, it's true). Very active forum, too.
give it a try, it deserve it!

Ok, this I have to say about the software I have checked:
5: Ant Movie Catalog: Hate the interface
4: MediaMan: I'm sure this is sponsored by Amazon
3: Collectorz.com version: Also good, but still I hate IMDB actually...
2: All My Movies: This is a good program, great, really GREAT interface, just that IMDB sucks, takes a lot of time to get the info you want.
My Number One:
1: DVD Profiler: Ok...I can only add dvd's, but the info you get about these dvd's is just amazing, and also the support for other countries like the Netherlands, oh man!!!
What I have done now is just added 3 tag, dvd, vhs and other. Now I can easily check a checkbox and filter by using these.
But especially for dvd's: There is NO comparison in program than this one. and also a fast database, not the fucking slow IMDB. ohh...and UPC codes RULE!!!!

Just curious, why do you hate IMDB so much? Do you know of a better site for movie metadata?Anonymous escribió: 3: Collectorz.com version: Also good, but still I hate IMDB actually...

Ok...somehow i can't login with my account anymore and it says my email address is not correct to send my password...but ok...
It's not that I don't like IMDB...it is just painfully slow...dvd profiler uses it's own database, filled by users, maintained by themselves for correct information as much as possible, and it's FAST!!!. It also contains information on dvd's of specific countries, all features, etra's, subtitles, etc. It's just complete. And if you have it registered you can download full size dvd box screens.
So for dvd's the information is much more detailed and updates much much faster than that IMDB...so that's why I like dvd profiler's database much more....

GoofyIdiot,
I understand, but keep in mind that the two are designed for different purposes. DVD Profiler is a local program you install to track your DVD collection. IMDB is a web site to look up information about movies, whether you own them or not. Many people use it to watch trailers and read comments about movies to help them select what movies they want to watch.
Any program or web site could seem bad if you are trying to use it for something other than what it was intended for.
