Need help with WHS 2011 and network setup

Post by Tartifless »

Hello experts,

I have been using MM now for a long time and purchased the gold version some time ago (big fan).

I'm looking for help to get some kind of home network music tool based on MM, let me give you an overview of my current setup:
Server:
- One WHS 2011 box on which my music is stored
- 3 squeezebox boxes (radios and duet) with LMS already working on my WHS box
- Subsonic already streaming from my box
Clients:
- A W8 laptop
- Squeezeboxes
- A W8 RT tablet
- A W8 phone and an iphone

My requirements would be:
- Mediamonkey to update tags, manage the library, etc... for the files that are stored on the WHS box
- Management of the library should be possible from at least laptop and tablet
- Streaming music to all my clients
- Mediamonkey database should be on the client devices because I also want to be able to listen to locally stored music (on the clients) when I'm not at home.

I saw that MM can be installed on the serve and ran as a service, my problematic is more about:
- Getting the ability to manage the server library from my clients but to also have a local library for files located on my client
- Streaming through Mediamonkey to Squeezeboxes
- Maybe streaming through Mediamonkey over the internet ??? (But subsonic is ok for that already)

Would any of you have an advice about how to set this up ?

regards,
benoit
