cannot install script

Post by tadcook »

I am the admin on my computer.
When I try to install a script, a Product Installation popup appears, and I click the Install Now button.
The License Agreement appears, and I click on I Accept.
I then get:
ERROR
Update was not installed.

On the Product Installation popup, there is this checkbox:
[] Install for the current user only (doesn't require system admin rights)
When I try checking that box before installing, nothing happens.

Even though you are the admin, try this:

right click .mmip file > take ownership
> try installing script.

Just an idea to get you unstuck. If it works, you can hopefully get MM back up and running and then spend more time on why
your admin rights aren't working properly.

The Take Ownership change worked, but I still get the same error when trying to run the script.

"ERROR: Update location of files in database was not installed."

Success. I have installed the script. I couldn't do it after taking ownership, but it worked after I right-clicked the MM icon and ran as admin. I was initially concerned because I couldn't see it listed among scripts in MM, but with MM running, I was able to right-click on the file from Win Explorer and it installed just fine.

Now to get the real work done!

Thanks, all.

Oh, boy. I guess I have to learn more about how this script works.

I should also back up my database at each step.

I selected 10 Otis Redding tracks that pointed to the old drive, ran the script, and copied the old path, and changed My Passport to F:

After running it, I see 25 tracks, and most of them are other artists and song titles which now all point to Otis Redding tracks.

So I play Franklin's Tower, by the Grateful Dead, and what I hear is Otis Redding's Just One More Day, from Live on Sunset Strip.

Common Ground by Walter Trout now plays I Can't Turn You Loose by Otis Redding.

I was hoping that I could run this script and get it to change all the My Passport references to F:\ but it seems to always point to specific tracks instead, and I have to copy the whole path to the new path reference.
