I've just migrated from iTunes to MMV. And I am stuggeling with some concepts of MMV. Such organisation of music. iTunes uses a dedicated folder under which all MP3 files are stored. When you import a song or directory into iTunes, it copies the songs from the source location into the iTunes target folder. iTunes also creates the according directory structure during import. It creates a folder for the artist, the album copies the song into that location. The big advantages of this approach is you will have all the music data at one location and can easily copy it.
In contrast of this MMV has the "library", basically a database of all music on your computer. The library also stores the path to the MP3 file. Well, iTunes does this as well, but all MP3s will be at clearly defined locations, such as iTunesMusic/artist/album/song.mp3. MMW however can used any path. It does not need the music under one single root folder, but can deal with songs spread all over your hard disc. This seems to be a smart feature at the first glance, but if you want all your music under one folder, you seemingly need to take care of your own. Don't you?
I actually have copied all my iTunes music into a folder called mediamonkey. Inherited from iTunes, I have the artist/album/song hierarchy below. If I now want to add a song, I could manually create the artist/album folder, copy the new song into it and use Add/Rescan Tracks to the Library in MMW and rescan just that folder. This would work. But is *much* more cumbersome compared to iTunes where I just select "import", and iTunes reads the ID tags in the MP3 file and takes care of all the rest.
So, is there a way to import (!) MP3s into MMW not only into its library by rescaning a folder, but by copying the target file from its given location into a artist/album folder that will be created by MMV, automatically?

MediaMonkey allows you to use your files as you want, but can move files to an organized structure automatically (as well as manual if you want more control) using Tools > Options > Auto-Organize: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... enames/4.0
Note that MediaMonkey can't copy on import, but instead will move on import when using Auto-Organize. Tools > Auto-Organize Files can copy, but is a manual feature used on selected files.
