Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
no your miss reading it again. i was just saying how the dock areas work. for other sizes of screens and their configuration.
some people use a vertical monitor.
some people use a horizontal monitor.
i took it from your screen shot you use a horizontal monitor.
so the post in which i said
the next post was just adding info to state that the vertical monitors could do the same but would use different dock areas.
i can't see your screenshot anymore cause i'm back on the back up computer that uses dial up the other one i replaced the dell with just crapped out. can't load its os. i have to fix it now.
but that is what i was saying just how to get it with a vertical screen.
but you could use some more instructions so here is another thing to remember.
mediamonkey has only 4 docking areas. as in that screenshot at the wiki i showed you.
so when docking something you can only dock 4 things.
when you want to put something else in the dock area your not really docking it. you are just sliding it next
to the other item in the dock area.
so the first item opens the dock and grabs the dock area and sets the border for the docking space.
the second item just slides the first item over and joins it on the sofa. kind of like you taking a nap and
some one else wanting to sit on the sofa they push you over so you sit up or scrunch up taking less room
so they can sit down. your still the same size you are just all folded up in places to make room. thats what the first item does.
so you see there is only 4 docked items the others are free loaders.

You said "so you can have it in your style in any dock area except the top dock area". If you could show an example in the bottom dock area, I'd be grateful.

Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
would you get that dangblasted docking out of your mind.
its messing with you.
what you want to do is not possible in the bottom dock area.
it is not possible in the top dock area.
but what is possible is to use those two areas which you can place things in, with another area.
left and right dock area can hold both windows. top and bottom area only holds both side by side.
in order to get what you want using the bottom area you must combine it with the side area of your choice.
putting the player in the bottom area and the now playing window in the side area.
now to get that on the top of the screen you need to put the now playing window in the top area.
and the player on top of another window in the side area of you choice, so you will get your look but the player or the now playing window which ever you put in the side area will be to the left or right of the screen.
all the windows except the listview area and the menu header area, are moveable.
you ever do one of those puzzels that are in a case with several panels in it that the picture is printed over all the panels but when you buy it the panels are not in the proper order to see the picture, you have to move them around to line up the picture and see it.??
mediamonkey's skin works just like that. only you get the center panel shown to you proper so it never moves
only the ones around it.

Well, I know how to do that thanks, but that's not what I asked for.
I take it what I asked for is impossible. Thanks for your help.

Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
glad you see what i been saying.
sorry it is not what you wanted. but its the only way to get the look of what you want.
top and bottom are horizontal placement of windows only.
left and right are vertical placement of windows only.
i too remember the time we could put windows side by side in the right area and i one time did put it top and bottom in the same horizontal area, also. but some time in the mm 3 beta's for one of the versions it changed to the way i just said above.
i believe it was changed to try and stop the windows from sliding under each other which was going on awhile ago, or to fix some errors that were showing up. but its been like a year or two since it was changed.

Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
thats okay nohitter151 90% of the stuff i get done on my systems people don't believe can be done or was done.
you just joined them thats all.
but what i said i did i have done. now knowing that i had my systems tweaked to the hilt and back at one point it is no wonder i might have got things done that was not thought possible. even now with the new jukebox it is the first time i have got 80% of the errors the newbies have been posting for the last year.
this computer and the other two never showed them. i believe that is cause of the tweaking of these computers and the overinstalling of mediamonkey's old versions with the new versions. i think he is keeping some code from the older versions that is the only thing that makes sense as to why he does not show the errors common to the clean installs done for the first time on computers.
of which i am now getting on the jukebox computer since i did not tweak that one and did not over install it on that new system.
so not thinking i really did something that others can not do is normal for the people that learned computing from books or have some sort of formal trainning in them for scripting or just learned programming in their spare time from books.
but call me a liar again and i'll get really upset.

Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
I had the same issue. I fixed it this way:
Find mediamonkey settings file (mediamonkey.ini). In Vista/Se7en it's located in "C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey"
Open it with notpad and find this strings:
PlayerVisible=
PlayerSticky=
NowPlayingDockable=
and change there value to 1.
Hope this helps.

Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
P.S. I know this thread is very old, but still, i was looking for solution through google and first result was this thread, so i decided to write my solution for it.
Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
I can't get this to work for me either...
It was working earlier todazy but I just undocked Now playing ONCE to try something and now it won't go back into it's position above the player at the bottom of the track list.

Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
OK, so here is what happened to me today in V1294:
Now Playing WAS docked above the player. Other posters in this thread have said this was impossible. Not so. I *swear* that's how it was this morning... it's been my preferred layout for years. I undocked the Now Playing window (I was just just curious and I unchecked "Dock to window" on it once) but then I couldn't get it to go back into position. I was able to:
* Float it undocked over the UI
* Dock it above, to the right, or to the left of the track list
* Co-dock it next to the player (each being 1/2 width)
Like the original poster, I want my Now PLaying window docked back above the player, the same width as the track list. I know it can do it... it was there this morning!!
SCREENSHOTS:
1) Now playing floating where I want it docked instead: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3165/455 ... 5f2a14.jpg
2) Now PLaying co-docked at the bottom next to player... not where I want it: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4004/455 ... 115fbb.jpg
3) I'm able to drag the Now Playing title bar left overlapping the player? (useless!) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3045/455 ... 526f8d.jpg
I tried the previous posters suggestion about opening the INI file and changing the player to sticky and visible and the Now Playing to docked, and I ended up with the situation in screenshot 2 (not what I want). Help!!!

Re: V1294 Now Playing fails to dock
I found hacking the INI recovered, but sorry I did not record the hack detail.
